The Genesys Health System, a Member of Ascension Health, is a group affiliated medical campuses, outpatient center, primary care locations and ancillary health care organizations with a mission and history of improving our community’s health for over 80 years. Built in 1995 Genesys Regional Medical Center at Health Park was one of the first medical centers of its kind built both clinically and architecturally around patient-focused care philosophy. In addition, Genesys offers numerous in-home services. Genesys also offers after hours clinics in three locations and full service 24 hour emergency service in two locations.

Genesys Regional Medical Center is a founding member and training site in the Statewide Campus System of Michigan State College of Osteopathic Medicine and its post-doctoral division. The podiatry residents interact with residents in all programs including, Family Practice, Internal Medicine, OB/GYN, Orthopedic Surgery, General Surgery, Emergency Medicine,  Radiology and well as Fellowships in GI and Psychology.

The residency in Podiatric Medicine and Surgery carries a long history in Podiatric Education in the Greater Flint Area. There have now been more the 100 graduates of this program which has been in existence since 1975, where a one year residency was initially developed. Now the residency takes 2 residents a year for a total of 6. The residents cover cases at Hurley, McLaren Flint, Genesys Surgery Center, Flint Surgery Center, McLaren Surgery Center and Lapeer Hospital.

The residency program covers a broad range of medical and surgical rotations including Internal Medicine, General and Vascular Surgery, Emergency Medicine, Anesthesiology, Radiology, Pathology, Behavioral Medicine, Infectious Disease, Orthopedic Surgery, Rheumatology, Endocrinology, Podiatric office practice and, of course, Podiatric Surgery.
